As of this date of this posting, the archive.org link directs you to a "There is an issue with this video's content" page. This indicates that the film may not be in the public domain. However, there are several versions still posted on youtube.
Director: Elia Kazan
Writer: Richard Murphy and Daniel Fuchs (adaptation), Edna Anhalt and Edward Anhalt (story), John Lee Mahin and Philip Yordan (uncredited)
Cinematographer: Joseph MacDonald
Plot: A doctor and a policeman in New Orleans have only 48 hours to locate a killer infected with pneumonic plague. It seems like a simple drama, but there is a gangster named Blackie (played by Jack Palance in his first screen role) who adds a noirish element.
There is a partial script avaiable.
